Facebook Thinks Your Open House Sucks?
From today’s Techcrunch article: “Facebook Proposes To Ban Sponsored Status Updates”
Today Facebook has posted a note to its blog indicating that it’s proposing an update to its Statement of Rights and Responsibilities — one of the site’s documents that establishes user rights and Facebook’s Terms of Service. The post notes that these changes “mostly include clarifying changes and minor updates”, but there is at least one change that has some significant implications: Facebook users are banned from “using their personal profiles for their own commercial gain”, with selling status updates to advertisers explicitly being singled out as a violation.
So, Realtor face… Are you only using facebook to post info about your open house this weekend. Or is your only use for Facebook been to tell people about that new listing you just picked up? Are you always announcing a price reduction? Or the fact that you’ve got a settlement tomorrow? Do you view Facebook as no more than a free promotional tool for your real estate business?

If so, cool. Personally, I don’t blame you… because… why the hell not right? I mean a cousin or some douchy trust fund anarchist friend from high school might bust your chops about your commercialism, but hey, a free ad’s a free ad… and at heart all good real estate pro’s should be killa guerrillas when it comes to identifying and implementing inexpensive, inefficient strategies for running their small businesses.
But does this Techcrunch Facebook post really fortell the end to the Realtor’s ability to milk Facebook for free leads? Probably not. There are many other other effective paths to stealthily milking the f book!
I mentioned a few in my post about Facebook for real estate agents last week, and if you stay tuned, I’m going to unleash a few more doozies tomorrow and the day after. So, have you subscribed to my feed yet, or hit up Facebook.Com/HouseYourMom?
